This position works with all departments to develop and enhance a culture of consistent safe behavior. This position serves as a subject expert to ensure compliance with safety standards. In addition, this person must observe, track, and complete activities with employees, to reduce and eliminate work related injuries and accidents to support our safety, environmental and sustainability goals. This person must maintain comprehensive filing system for documents pertaining to compliance with OSHA, and Food Defense programs as well as oversee contract Security Services at facility. Specific Responsibilities include: Ensure Compliance with OSHA standards. Conduct proactive, action based programs to reduce or eliminate work related accidents or injuries; Develop and facilitate all safety related training; Adhere to all Food safety and Quality policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity; Assists with and train supervisors on proper accident investigations for all work related injuries and provide reports to location management; Performs all job site analysis, determine employee exposure, and assist in developing safe work policies, procedures and inspection report forms; Performs new hire safety training; Coordinates tow motor licensing with supervisors; Collects and monitors safety work orders; Publishes safety audit tracking form which includes audits, cross audits, audits done with hourly employees, positive reinforcement, unsafe acts and unsafe conditions; Maintains and updates all safety records such as: injuries, illnesses, safety statistics, tow motor licensing, using spreadsheets, graphs, charts and presentations as required and all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Safety or related field, 2 years leading safety programs in industrial setting, preferred. Safety Professional Certification, preferred.

Experience: 3+ years EHS or engineering, or related field is preferred. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, must have 4+ years as safety leadership or safety professional preferred.

Computer Skills: Standard computer skills required. Communication Skills: Effective verbal & writing skills to present ideas and concepts to diverse audiences from front-line to plant leadership level

Special Skills: Strong knowledge and experience w/leading Machine Guarding, Ergonomics, PSM, Strong problem solving skills, data driven with and affinity for data management; and must be detail oriented with a high level of accuracy.

Safety Manager

As the Safety Manager in McPherson, KS your will promote safe practices and environmental commitments in alignment with Johns Manville commitments, policies and compliance requirements. Responsibilities include overseeing/maintaining all safety programs, regulatory programs, and safety policies. All aspects of safety will be the Safety Manager’s including: regulatory programs (OSHA), weekly and monthly reporting, Workers Compensation, company safety policies, medical first responder, hazard identification, injury case management and trending, management of change, regulatory/safety training and the safety budget.

WICHITA – EHS Manager

A leading manufacturing organization is looking to appoint an EHS Manager to oversee their facility in the Wichita, KS area. The EHS Manager will be responsible for managing the EHS team and fostering a healthy safety culture. The incumbent will be tasked with conducting EHS audits and acting as the interface between local and federal agencies to ensure compliance with all regulations.

The Role

  • Operate as a senior leader for the facility, influencing staff at all levels;
  • Conduct risk assessments, facility inspections, and accident investigations;
  • Complete serious incident reports and recommend corrective/preventative measures;
  • Interact with regulatory bodies and represent the company at local, state, and federal regulatory meetings;

The Candidate

  • Minimum of 6 years’ EHS experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to communicate at all levels
