This position conducts or assists the Environmental Compliance Manager with the development and compliance assurance of environmental protection programs mandated as part of RCRA, TSCA, HMTA, Controlled Substances Act, CAA, CWA, and other environmental protection acts and related regulations. Manages hazardous materials and waste, conducts facility compliance inspections, and provides consultation and outreach to the campus. Position responsibilities include the oversight of environmental permits, hazardous waste, and environmental abatement projects on campus properties. The position is part of a campus hazardous materials (release) response team that provides response to environmental incidents with potential impact on campus and city systems (storm and sanitary systems) and the natural environment. The position provides a response to hazardous materials spills/incidents/emergencies during and after business hours and makes decisions regarding the course of action for response to hazardous materials incidents, including appropriate abatement measures and reporting.
